Oh this makes me think of Sherman Alexie's introduction to one of this books of short stories! I gave it to Shelly, so I can't quote it directly, but he talks about going into some successful business and then changing his mind to go into the incredibly lucrative pursuit of small press poetry. ALL THE MONEY, like you said. LOL! I so hear you, is what I'm saying, as I try to put headers onto this ridiculously drunk thing. <3

Persnality-wise I am much more A than S. My MS is in Academic Advising though. (I took serious care to type that out, let me tell you!)

Drunk advising ahoy, but no one can tell you what you should be. What do you want? What are your interests, skills, values?  Do I write nonfancfic. Well, not for a very long time. Fanfic is what I love most. But I used to (try) to write poetry from time to time.

Ah, my interests are writing queer smut and being more visible as a queer person in a not very queer city. My skills are numerous but subject to distraction. My values are buddhist. as much as possible in a capitalist society.

god, I'm still drunk. I also teach environmental literature and try to get apathetic white college kids to care about saving the planet. sometimes I succeed and that's nice. I also try to teach them to write in the process.

hard not to love fanfic most. I can't believe i didn't know about it earlier. I've been in fandom exactly one year. Late bloomer.

Also, I fuckng love your writing. I don't know why you didn't do the MFA but in my book you have one. Ok, drunk enough to rapmlbele, and also I finidhed my fic just now:

you know that fic you wrote where harry and draco are in the broom shed? I don't remember the name of it. I think about hat fic a lot, and what I ihtnkn about tit is that harry has absolutely no part of himself that is shamed. Draco keeps trying to shame him and it doesn't stick to harry at all. everything that harry is doing sexually is just what it is and he has no judgement about it. And that really stayed with me. And how his lack of shame, his impervoiousness to it, ends up tanslforming draco as well. It's beautiful. I know it's a kind of cracky fic but in an other way it's a very powerful story about the power of not letting oneself be shamed.

You know, I do have to wonder if, even through a cranky premise as that, I might have been workjing rhough my own shame issues, and how I wish I could go back and not feel the shame I felt about whoI was. I'm moved that you got so much out of that story, truly. And thank you for this comment. I've run out of financial aid (hahahaha!), but maybe I can audit enough classes when I'm working to get that MFA after all. ;) I appreciate the vote of confiedence, drunk or not. <3 (Also, 'More than One Way to Polish a Broom'.
