Quick clarification for newbies: you don't have to use all the prompts--though that does make for a fun fic!--but since one of the categories for voting is "Best Use of Prompt" we do recommend using at least one. We try to have a few prompts each round that are not HP-specific.

As you know, this is the Official Discussion Post. If you feel like chatting, and we hope you do, pop in here and let us know how it's going. Please do not discuss your fic/art. You can discuss ideas, drinks, how wasted you are, your favorite actors or musicians, the state of the world (a nice, safe topic LOL), or whatever floats your boat. Just don't discuss your fic/art. This is an anonymous fest until after the reveal, and we don't want hints being given as to what you're writing about. :)

And just so we're clear, you don't have to write pr0n, though it definitely makes for interesting reading when characters change right in the middle of shagging because you're too drunk to remember who you're writing about. ;) You can write for any fandom (including original), but though we're getting more diversity, we're still fairly HP-focused. Anything goes!

Speaking of "getting a tattoo that so and so had in a fic or something that was significant in a story": that tattoo on Callum Keith Rennie's arm (see icon) is for realz and not painted on for playing a part -- and I have that tattoo for realz also -- and another one of my tattoos is fanart from a fic on which I did beta my very first fic beta.

It was kind of unsettling when the screen began pixelating in front of my eyes. When the pixelating continued with my eyes closed, I began to recall what I'd heard about migraines with aura (because of course your first thoughts are "am I losing my eyesight?!" and "why does it have to happen at 4pm on a Friday, FML -_-")

I can imagine! That sounds frightening.

Very tl;dr but my son had one migraine with aura, several years ago now, when he was in a play at school. He never had one before or since so didn't really know what was happening but yeah, his first clue was when the lights started to have an aura about them.

I've never paused and gotten re-drunk for a Firewhiskey before, but I had to work early this morning so I gave up last night when the story stalled out and I knew I had to get to sleep soon if I wanted to be functional. So, day two, and I just took another shot of whiskey and I'm about to open up the story (might need a second shot before I can face it). I'm feeling cringy about how bad it must be and I really need to get back to "Fuck it! Let's do this!" mode before I continue.

When I'm dehdrated, I get this kaleidescope vision where the world is all sparkly and sort of pulsey and pixelated but in real life. The first time it happened, I was terrified it was the first sign of a migraine because I have friends who have them and described that "aura". But in my case, it seems to be a consistant thing associated only with dehydration and fixed pretty instantly with as much water as I can get. I take care to drink lots of water these days and haven't had a repeat in years.

Things are a bit confusing at the moment. Lots of potential diagnoses, but it seems to be settling down to a case of "you need to eat better". (She's getting lectured about cutting back on protein and eating more fiber instead.)

At one point today, she was emphatic that she was NOT going to stay another night in the hospital and that she was going to leave against medical advice, but they talked her into staying (mainly by pointing out that she's been needing help getting to the bathroom). And she was still expecting to be released tomorrow ... but then she texted me this evening saying she was still experiencing dramatic pain while on the toilet. She's says it feels like she has some kind of blockage/impaction, which seems like the sort of thing that needs to be dealt with before they send her home.

I'm the world's worst nurse so I was feeling a bit panicky when she was talking about coming home today. (I'm not physically capable of picking her up if she falls and I'm not psychologically capable of dealing with any gross biological stuff.) So I'm relieved she's staying in the hospital at least one more night.

At least they are no longer floating suggestions of terminal scenarios. Apparently someone asked her as a standard part of the intake process what sort of extreme life support measures she wanted taken and she interpreted that to mean they actually thought she was going to die at any moment so there have now been at least two panic attacks.

It took me a few more hours before I managed to get back to it (had to drop off some more things for roommate at the hospital), but I did it! Fic finished and submitted!

In addition to the traditional Fireball shots, I also established that pineapple vodka mixes nicely with Canada Dry. I'm starting to sober up at this point though.

Pineapple vodka? I did not know that was A Thing! Does it work if I just mix some pineapple juice I have on hand with some vodka I have on hand?

Damn...I really wish we "locals' were hanging out IRL right now. Yes, I know you finished your fic and YAYS for that, but I am still drinking and ficcing and it would be so great right now to be with someone who understands this.
