Firewhiskeyfic: Not-So-Dry January Edition

Firewhiskeyfic is FRIDAY, JANUARY 20! (So don't start drinking yet! Though we'll understand if you do.)

For this Not-So-Day January, we highly recommend Dry Drinks for Dry January

The "King of dry drinks" is a Martini!



Or for dry wines, we've got Sauvignon blanc or Chianti!



The festivities will begin at 9PM GMT/4PM EST/1PM PST on Friday, January 20! Hopefully, the time works for you but remember that you can come and go as you please, start early, leave late. It's all good as long as while you are writing, you're drinking. :D

We are hosting on our DW community again this round. If you do not have a DW account (yet *g*), you should be able to comment with OpenID or anonymously.

1. This round will take place on Friday, January 20, 9PM GMT/4PM EST/1M PST (and last until you finish or pass out). Due to sucky time zones mucking everything up, if you'd like to start earlier or later, that's fine!

2. Your fic and/or art will be due approximately 48 hours from the challenge start time. For this round, that means Sunday, January 22nd by midnight your time. (We would prefer to turn them in the same night or the next morning, but we understand drunk/hangover emailing might be a tad too challenging.)

Please note: The extra time provided may not be used for editing or adding on or fixing typos, etc. (If you were too drunk to add a header, please add one when sober. ;)) Also note: NO BETAS ALLOWED. We recommend you don't even look at or reread your submission before turning it in. (You can be surprised right along with the rest of us!)

3. Submissions will be posted anonymously on January 23rd and voting will be open for various categories through Friday, January 27th. Please vote! (But not for yourself! :P)

4. All fandoms are welcome! We're traditionally very HP-focused here, but if you get inspired to go Marvel or Supernatural or Doctor Who, etc., etc. (or a crossover!) that's totally fine.

5. And finally, you must be of legal drinking age in your country in order to participate.

Would you believe that I've never owned a cocktail shaker and muddler until now? I bought them for the first time a week ago and will be initiating them during this FWF!

I enjoyed the linked article here about "dry drinks" but I'm confused by the article listing an Old-Fashioned made with sugar as a type of dry drink while also saying in the article that "a dry drink is any cocktail that doesn't have sugar or sweetener. This includes cocktails like Martini, Negroni, and Old Fashioned."

Time for a letter to the editor!! :D I admit I didn't read it too closely simply because dry is not really my style but that is pretty hilarious.

I don't have a cocktail shaker myself. You'll have to let us know how it goes!

My brain is like that -- errors and inconsistencies in writing just jump out and smack me in the face.

I will certainly be reporting on my experiences with my first cocktail shaker and muddler during FWF...for as long as I can coherently do so...and possibly even longer. LOL.
