Welcome to the 'It's 5 o'clock Somewhere' edition offirewhiskeyfic! We, your Mods - sdk and torino10154, are so glad you could make it. We love everyone today. Feel free to friend us on DW. We promise not to stalk you... much. :D
Putting this note at the top: This round is a bit different. A marathon rather than a sprint. The pace will probably be a little slower, less intense than our usual events. Hopefully, someone will be around when you arrive but don't despair if it's quiet at times throughout the day.

Quick clarification for newbies: you don't have to use all the prompts--though that does make for a fun fic!--but since one of the categories for voting is "Best Use of Prompt" we do recommend using at least one. We try to have 2-3 prompts each round that are not HP-specific.
As you know, this is the Official Discussion Post. If you feel like chatting, and we hope you do, pop in here and let us know how it's going. Please do not discuss your fic/art. You can discuss ideas, drinks, how wasted you are, your favorite actors or musicians, the state of the world (a nice, safe topic LOL), or whatever floats your boat. Just don't discuss your fic/art. This is an anonymous fest until after the reveal, and we don't want hints being given as to what you're writing about. :)
And just so we're clear, you don't have to write pr0n, though it definitely makes for interesting reading when characters change right in the middle of shagging because you're too drunk to remember who you're writing about. ;) You can write for any fandom (including original), but though we're getting more diversity, we're still fairly HP-focused. Anything goes!

You will receive an email from us confirming that we got it. If you don't get an email, we didn't get it. Your fics/art will be due by midnight on Monday, July 4th. Voting will begin on July 5th and last until Saturday, July 9th.

Date: 2022-07-02 04:07 pm (UTC)I am "working" (so sadly not drinking for three more hours). But I'm just the online technical backup today. I have to be here and sober so I can upload files and stuff when people request them and deal with any unforeseen tech issues. But otherwise, I'm just sitting here doing nothing and wishing I could start drinking/ficcing.

As an added twist, I'm mainly doing tech support for small children so the answer to that question is sometimes "no" so my follow-up is "Is there someone there you can ask?" (The other day the answer to that was, "My grandma is asleep and my twin brother is also 9 and can't help.")

Date: 2022-07-02 04:30 pm (UTC)I'm honestly surprised at how well the kids deal with tech. I think I'd rather deal with with the kid than the grandma most times anyway.
My biggest duty isn't even really technical support today (it could happen, but unlikely), it's mostly assigning people to the correct "rooms" when they log-in, uploading which worksheets they are supposed to be working on, and then jumping in as a substitute instructor if extra students show up unexpectedly. (We have a couple of parents who seem to think the schedule is just a suggestion.) And it's slow enough today that if that happens, I can still assign one more student to another instructor before I have to help out.
It's so tempting to go, "They don't really need me today, I could start drunk-ficcing now"... but if they do need me, it's important that I retain my ability to type accurately so ... still sober and bored.
And when I say it's slow today... I literally have more instructors than students online for the next half hour so one of my guys is just twiddling his thumbs too.
