For this round, we highly recommend drinks for Dad (or anyone else who enjoys a good cocktail)!

For a classic, why not a simple pint of ale!

The festivities will begin at 10PM GMT/5PM EST/2PM PST on Saturday, January 22! Hopefully, the time works for you but remember that you can come and go as you please, start early, leave late. It's all good as long as while you are writing, you're drinking. :D

A rundown of the rules. A more thorough explanation will be posted on the night of the event.


1. This round will take place on Saturday, January 22nd, 10PM GMT/5PM EST/2PM PST (and last until you finish or pass out). Due to sucky time zones mucking everything up, if you'd like to start earlier or later, that's fine!

2. Your fic and/or art will be due approximately 48 hours from the challenge start time. For this round, that means Monday, January 24 by midnight your time. (We would prefer to turn them in the same night or the next morning, but we understand drunk/hangover emailing might be a tad too challenging.)

Please note: The extra time provided may not be used for editing or adding on or fixing typos, etc. (If you were too drunk to add a header, please add one when sober. ;)) Also note: NO BETAS ALLOWED. We recommend you don't even look at or reread your submission before turning it in. (You can be surprised right along with the rest of us!)

3. Submissions will be posted anonymously on January 25th and voting will be open for various categories through Saturday, January 29th. Please vote! (But not for yourself! :P)

4. All fandoms are welcome! We're traditionally very HP-focused here, but if you get inspired to go Marvel or Supernatural or Doctor Who, etc., etc. (or a crossover!) that's totally fine.

5. And finally, you must be of legal drinking age in your country in order to participate.

OMG EXCITE. I need this in my life right now. Some lovely person gifted me an absolutely enormous bottle of Maccallan 12 yo so I will be drunk AF. Although I am quite intrigued by the 420 option. I wonder if I could stay awake? LOL

Oh, I can work with the "dad" theme while writing in due South, and maybe I can work in the two word-prompts that are generic (or...if I have enough to drink...maybe I can work the HP prompts into a dS fic).

That's a great cocktail site to which you've provided the link, and it's particularly awesome that one of the "dad" drinks there is a Moscow Mule...'cause my next-door neighbors gave me a Moscow Mule Kit for Christmas (yes, I have wonderful next-door neighbors) and so I'm already set with the copper drinkware and the small-batch artisanal vodka and two kinds of ginger beer, all from that kit, and I just need to buy some fresh limes to do the lime juice.

Thank you! The whole of the Lavender Edition was cool, and hot. With or without her, Arthur will make the Dad Bod Edition... AWESOME. (I'm preparing myself not only by acquiring spirits, also by acquiring better vocabulary, and Urban Dictionary says that awesome is greater than cool, wikad, sick, super, kick-ass and mega put together. That's our Arthur!)

Hey there! I'll try to summarize how it works but if you still have questions, don't hesitate to ask!

On the night of the event, we'll post the official start and we gather together and chit chat but not about what we're working on--what we're drinking, shows we're into, our pets, whatever.

Once you've created something, whether fic or art, you email it to our mod account (fwfdrunkmods at gmail). We post it anonymously, everyone votes on their favorites, which they think is most coherent, least coherent, etc. Then at the end of the week we have winners and the big reveal of who wrote what.

If you scroll back through the entries in the comm, you should get an idea of what it looks like. But for examples: Our last event, my entry in that round (so as not to embarrass anyone else LOL), voting and the winners.

But I'm afraid the druggiest I get is the coffee scent of my crackly candle and the occasional echinacea tablet (plus also all the Astra Zeneca, Pfizer and Moderna I can lay my arteries on). On my vacation time request form at work I filled in the "reason for absence" line as "online real-time writing marathon with fellow writers". Heh.
