This comment means the world to me! I could read it over and over! All I know about this story is that I put that song on, "Believer", and danced in my office, and then suddenly, out of nowhere, this just demanded to come out.
As for the shift of the shaft between your thighs, wind wicking your hair from your face, goggles foggy with hard breath and then cleared by the sun, that is just all kinds of lucky?!?!?! LOL! I mean, I read it now, and I'm like omg, how did that f-ing HAPPEN? Because I see what you're talking about: shift/shaft, wind/wicking, goggles/foggy. But it was all accidental. LOL.
What I was conscious of and aiming for was that other thing you spoke of "...the sense that having a passion for something can be such a powerful saving grace in the midst of so much trauma and grief and pain." Because that is very personal to me, and I'm so happy that came across to you the way it did. <3 Same with the group bond! I'm thrilled you commented on that! It's one of the things I love most about writing an immediately post-war HP story.
