For this round, we highly recommend drinks for Dad (or anyone else who enjoys a good cocktail)!

For a classic, why not a simple pint of ale!

The festivities will begin at 10PM GMT/5PM EST/2PM PST on Saturday, January 22! Hopefully, the time works for you but remember that you can come and go as you please, start early, leave late. It's all good as long as while you are writing, you're drinking. :D

We are hosting on our DW community again this round. If you do not have a DW account (yet *g*), you should be able to comment with OpenID or anonymously.

A rundown of the rules. A more thorough explanation will be posted on the night of the event.


1. This round will take place on Saturday, January 22nd, 10PM GMT/5PM EST/2PM PST (and last until you finish or pass out). Due to sucky time zones mucking everything up, if you'd like to start earlier or later, that's fine!

2. Your fic and/or art will be due approximately 48 hours from the challenge start time. For this round, that means Monday, January 24 by midnight your time. (We would prefer to turn them in the same night or the next morning, but we understand drunk/hangover emailing might be a tad too challenging.)

Please note: The extra time provided may not be used for editing or adding on or fixing typos, etc. (If you were too drunk to add a header, please add one when sober. ;)) Also note: NO BETAS ALLOWED. We recommend you don't even look at or reread your submission before turning it in. (You can be surprised right along with the rest of us!)

3. Submissions will be posted anonymously on January 25th and voting will be open for various categories through Saturday, January 29th. Please vote! (But not for yourself! :P)

4. All fandoms are welcome! We're traditionally very HP-focused here, but if you get inspired to go Marvel or Supernatural or Doctor Who, etc., etc. (or a crossover!) that's totally fine.

5. And finally, you must be of legal drinking age in your country in order to participate.

Whoa, look at all those HP-specific prompts! I'll be writing in my primary and forever fandom -- due South -- and if I'm going to write a dS and HP crossover or infusion I'm gonna need All The Liquor (which, fortunately, suits this comm just fine).

Is it okay for me to use the official FireWhiskeyFic icon in my own DW and LJ when I pimp this comm? And if so, to whom do I give credit for the icon?

Yeah, we're a bit heavy on the HP but don't worry, you don't have to use all of the prompts or really any of them, technically, if you do end up having an idea that doesn't fit, however a drunken due South/HP mashup sounds perfect! XD

And yes, you can snag the icon! It was created by dhamphir. Torino snagged it from one of the original mods of this challenge and I'm sure it's just fine to use!

Hey there! I'll try to summarize how it works but if you still have questions, don't hesitate to ask!

On the night of the event, we'll post the official start and we gather together and chit chat but not about what we're working on--what we're drinking, shows we're into, our pets, whatever.

Once you've created something, whether fic or art, you email it to our mod account (fwfdrunkmods at gmail). We post it anonymously, everyone votes on their favorites, which they think is most coherent, least coherent, etc. Then at the end of the week we have winners and the big reveal of who wrote what.

If you scroll back through the entries in the comm, you should get an idea of what it looks like. But for examples: Our last event, my entry in that round (so as not to embarrass anyone else LOL), voting and the winners.

Are you indeed "getting some shit done for work" first? Me, I took today, Sunday, and Monday off from work for writing ...and...uhm...possible need to recover from hangover. On my vacation time request form at work I filled in the "reason for absence" line as "online real-time writing marathon with fellow writers". Heh.
