Monster energy drink + water before bed cures my hangovers before they start. I'm an RN who used to work ER & Monster has everything we used to put in the "banana bags" we hung for the drunks with the misfortune of being in ER. (Also once their blood level of alcohol comes back, if it's over the legal limit - 0.08 - we cannot legally discharge them until it goes down below the legal limit... there is a standard calculation that one loses 0.025 per hour once one stops drinking, which is 0.10 alcohol per every 4 hours.)
Anyhoo, banana bags are so called because after we injected the IV vitamins (thiamine, folic acid, + multivitamin), the bag turns yellow because of the B vitamins. Point is, Monster (or the Aldi equivalent, Gridlock) gas everything we put in the banana bags. Of course it has other stuff too, like caffeine, taurine, ginseng... that's just a bonus. The main thing is then vitamins; those are depleted by drinking.
So once I figured that out, drinking one or two Monsters before bed with equal amounts of water, always cured my hangovers before I got them. I hate hangovers too, so this is what I typically bring to any event where I know I'll be drinking, & likely to excess. Haven't had a hangover with drinking since - unless I forgot my Monsters.
Feel free to substitute any energy drink you prefer for Monster - as long as it's got at least the thiamine & folic acid. They often have B12 (cobolamin) to, which helps as well. Those are the main ones you want for hangover prevention. And drink extra water with 'em.
