Hey, everyone! How are you doing out there? Did everyone survive intact? We hope no one suffered any morning after ill-effects. :)

DW really made this round a lot more difficult last night. Boo!

If you turned in your piece, by now you should have gotten confirmation from either sdk or myself (or possibly both of us!). If you've emailed it in but didn't hear back, we haven't got it. Please send it in again! Our email is fwfdrunkmods@gmail.com.

You have until midnight EST Monday to turn in your piece if you haven't already. Remember, no editing allowed! If you passed out before you finished a header, that's acceptable to add to, but no correcting or messing with the fics and/or art itself.

We'll be posting all pieces anonymously on Tuesday all in one go and then voting will commence! A post on voting will go up then as well, with all the details.

We are so excited to share all of the drunken masterpieces!! :D

Argh! I totally forgot about last night's event! :o

However, I only just came out from a bout of Covid, which was the last, so far, of three consecutive respiratory infections this fall, so my mind has been elsewhere.

And when I did remember, DW was down. :'( So I couldn't even pop in and say hi and do a bit of sober cheering.

But I'm looking forward to see what you came up with!

I'll now slink back to my Yuletide-assignment and try to finish it. :)

I never even got started yesterday. I had a houseguest who was lingering and every time I checked Dreamwidth on my phone, it wouldn't load so I didn't have a lot of motivation to encourage my houseguest to leave faster so we ended up sitting around and talking all night. (I did toast you all with a Fireball-and-ginger-ale because I have this tradition where I pretend Fireball is "Firewhiskey" and it seemed like the thing to do. But no fic was written.)

Since the deadline isn't until Monday, I'm thinking of just doing solo drunk writing after work today, but I'm not even sure that will happen because I have to do more packing first and I am sooooo tired. (I'm in that "I swear I'm never moving again" mindset because every move gets harder and I don't think I can do this again.)

Thanks! Yes, yesterday was just a bit hard, seeing as I came back to work on Friday.
The worst part is that only earlier this week I reminded myself that I wanted to try a White Russian with vanilla ice cream instead of regular milk or cream for this round. :/

I thoroughly enjoyed my first FWF!

I mean yes, DW broke down, and so did my copy of MS Word (zomgwtfbbq??!!), but some lovely compadres emailed back and forth with me in support so I wasn't lonely, and Wordpad is simpler anyway, so I didn't have to worry I might accidentally turn my fic into a set of cascading bulleted lists. :-)

I was going to say next time should be a breeze by comparison, but I don't wanna tempt fate!

Still hangover free! \o/ I've never had one... because I hardly ever drink, yes.

DW did make it difficult in that I think a bunch of us enjoy the camaraderie and general silliness in the comment strings while we're drinking enough to get ready to write.

I am doing well after FWF. No hangover and happy with the fic I wrote (or at least with what I can remember about the fic I wrote LOL).

I still haven't started drinking or ficcing and I'm not sure I'm going to. (Who knows, I might yet get inspired before midnight.) I'm feeling guilty that I still have boxes left that I haven't finished packing. Tomorrow I'm going to have to order more boxes from Uhaul because I definitely don't have enough, but I don't know how many I really need until I pack up the last few. (And we're hitting the awkward phase where all the easy things--like nice rectangular books--are already packed and I'm down to the weirdly-shaped odds and ends that are harder.)

You're absolutely right!!! Things that would normally reduce me to meeping and gibbering in fear and nameless dread wouldn't even rise to the level of a problem for FWF!!!

Okay, I'm officially giving up and going to bed. I glanced over the prompt list again, thinking to myself that I might give it a shot--and I haven't packed all the booze yet--but drinking alone doesn't sound fun (even though I'm technically drinking "alone" every FWF, the chatting is half the fun). Also, the thought of having a drink now actually sounds kind of bleh. I'm a little queasy with nerves (and will likely remain so for the rest of the week) and booze on a queasy tummy doesn't seem wise.

I look forward to the next round though!

I hope to be there! :D (The uncertainty is just because the first couple of months after Christmas are the months the majority of my family celebrate their birthdays, myself included. So the weekends are quickly booked...)

But then I hope I'll get to use the fancy reusable straw that was in my Harry Potter advent calendar this morning ;)

The comments are so distracting when one finally is ready to write but yeah, without them it's just not the same. Definitely makes the event what it is, I think.

Glad you survived your first round with us! Definitely not the best start from a technical standpoint but we've really never had a round go quite as pear-shaped so I do think the next one will be much better for all.
