Well, we Scandinavians (and Dutch and north-Germans) really love us some ammonium-chloride-flavoured candy. Liquorice is after all the best when it comes with a health warning because of a risk of raised blood pressure if you eat too much of it. ;) And at some point, we thought of combining distilled liquor with salty liquorice. :D Wikipedia has a whole article on the Salmiakki Koskenkorva. If you like salty liquorice, it's a really nice drink, but if you're not accustomed to it, it might be quite, er, tough to drink. *g* (I've met American exchange students who thought Sambucca was hard to take as a shot, whereas my classmates in high school drank it from tumblers, straight, when we visited Rome.)
