It's called due South because it's the story of RCMP Constable Benton Fraser who comes to Chicago on the trail of the killers of his father RCMP Sergeant Robert Fraser...and Chicago is due South of Canada.

BTW, I'm a native Chicagoan whose heart has always belonged to Canada, even way before fandom, when my age was still in the single digits.
