Lqt, this comment made my hungover day! In graduate school I wrote a long, wonky essay about the component parts of metaphor and what happens when the vehicle becomes the tenor (don't ask) and it was all very academic and nichey. But apparently when I'm drunk!writing fic, I was actually to use the technique. So it just killed me in the best way that you wrote what you did.
