Explicit vs Suggestive

There are many shades of suggestive.

Explicit...well now, some work is a little more explicit than others.
My current WIP is turning out barely suggestive and I'd really really like to have at least one explicit scene.
I can't get the characters to cooperate. *sigh* Has that ever happened to you? Or maybe the reverse? You meant to write a gen story but the characters insisted on getting naked? (Yes, that has happened to me too) Damn characters just seem to take over.

spag check?
Volunteer rewarded with gratitude and a ficlet of their choice in any fandom I know enough to write in or original.
Goal achieved, thank you

Good Night, and Good Luck (PG) Screenshots (FF #28)
Regina Keim took many screen shots of Paul Gross (and the star and play's author, George Clooney, lol) in the CNN broadcast of Good Night, and Good Luck on Broadway, and she shared them on the Due South! Facebook group, if you want to go have a look. Enjoy!

The Friday Five
1. What item would you be embarrassed for people to know you own?
I'd be a tad embarrassed for my adult kids to know about all the slash fanfic I've written.
2. What is something you splurged on just for you?
I just splurged on a brand new Sealy Posturepedic mattress.
3. What is something that you own with no real world value that is priceless to you?
Aw, I still have pottery pieces my kids made in school. I cherish them.
4. Do you collect anything?
Nope.
5. What item belonging to a friend/family member do you covet?
Nothing. Coveting things isn't in my nature. I can like or admire something without coveting it. For me personally, the whole 'coveting' thing is a huge waste of emotional time. I've got better things to do. (Like writing that slash I'm hiding from my kids)

Jasper is currently resting comfortably with me checking on him frequently to make sure he doesn't scratch his eye area or need anything. In exchange he doesn't have to wear the cone.
So far he's being a real trooper about it just like last time. I really do think cats understand English and he understood my explanations of what was happening.
The opthalmologist took out everything they could and hopefully the biopsy will show the cancer not all the way through the removed tissue.
Ian gets paid in ten minutes so we don't have to worry about not having enough money for groceries/expenses after that.
The above picture is of Jasper at our vet the day we went to understand his diagnosis.
Besides Jasper I've mostly been reading fanfiction and making sure the other three cats aren't jealous of the attention Jasper's getting.
The headache I've had for days is getting better. And I'm glad the cancer cells are hopefully out of my cat.
Three weeks or so we should know for sure.
Which will put us in July. Hopefully after the anniversary of the cat who's death still feels fresh rather than almost a year ago.
Anyway Jasper is asleep and safe for now. I'm going to go back to reading fanfiction mostly about Harry Potter being raised by his godfather. Sometimes with manipulative Dumbledore... They are my weakness.

political: utter hypocrisy from authoritarian assholes
Originally reblogged by me on Tumblr but worth reposting here because YES, PREACH!, and WTF.
I don't love Robert Reich but I sure like him A LOT 1) because abso-fucking-lutely to the above, and B. many other concise brilliant analyses he's posted.
These fuckers are 100% hypocrites. It's all bullshit to push through an authoritarian system designed to promote and enhance kleptocracy. That is the ultimate goal: kleptocracy. Look it up. You will see that I am right.
Also I am increasingly disheartened that, yet again, William Gibson's scifi
and speculative fiction has predicted the course of Western society.
Goddamnit. I appreciate his intelligence and creativity but. Why does he
have to be right so often. Dogdamnit.

Working with or without a Plan

Are you planning out every detail of your story? Or writing on the fly carried by inspiration? A little of both?**
I have notes all over the place. When an idea hits I'll jot it down on anything handy. I should really work on being more organized.
That might explain why my current WIP is looking a little bit too much like the crime board picture. I don't even know how that happened. *facepalm*
It didn't start out with a mystery to be solved. It wasn't planned. That was a damn throwaway line.
I'm pushing through it, and I still like the story I'm working on, but a clear path forward would sure as hell help. Still, progress is happening.

**I refer to writing a lot because that's what I'm working on, but dusting off works in progress also includes art, podfic, or any other creative work.

I am a mess of anxiety.
We won't know until about 3 weeks or so if this time they got all of it. Last time they didn't know it was cancerous and the cancer was all the way into the margins.
I hope they can get the cancer out. I hope he'll forgive us for putting him through another surgery.
I hope he won't stop cuddling me or purring on my shoulder while nesting onto my boobs for a nap.
